Office of Internal Oversight Services

Transparency and accountability are critical to WHO's reputation as a trusted global health agency. To ensure that the Organization is responsibly governed, resources are efficiently and effectively utilized, and allegations of sexual misconduct are properly addressed, the Office of Internal Oversight Services (IOS) tracks and reports monthly the results of its main areas of its investigative and audit work: Sexual Misconduct and Abusive Conduct, Financial Misconduct and Internal Audits.

Reporting statistics for the Regional Office for the Americas (AMRO)/the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) can be found here. This data is collected and updated by the PAHO Investigations Office, which has a mandate to investigate allegations of reported wrongdoing independent from WHO.

Sexual misconduct is serious and the impact on victims and survivors is tremendous. Timeliness, responsiveness, and fairness given to allegations of misconduct are integral to building and maintaining trust in the organization. Likewise, transparency and accountability are central to IOS delivering on its mandate and is a part of WHO's unified plan.

The Office of Internal Oversight Services (IOS) has a dedicated unit of specially trained investigators who investigate allegations of financial misconduct. As new complaints are received, the financial misconduct cases are worked in real time.

This dashboard follows the implementation of audit recommendations made by the Office of Internal Oversight Services (IOS). It includes tracking high- and medium-risk audit recommendations in WHO's regions and headquarters as well as audit recommendations that were closed by an agreed-upon target date.
