Aamer Ikram
Biography
Major General Dr Aamer Ikram is a clinical microbiologist and
biosafety professional with nearly 40 years in health protection. For
the last six years, including during the challenging pandemic period,
Dr. Ikram has served as the Executive Director of the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) of Pakistan where he applies his expertise in
international health regulations, global health security agendas,
integrated disease surveillance and response and One-Heath.
Dr
Ikram is currently the Chair of the Advisory Board for Training
Programs in Epidemiology & Public Health Interventions Network, a
Strategic Advisor to the International Association of National Public
Health Institutes and a member of the Global Council International
Vaccine Institute, Future Global Health Initiatives, Partnership for
International Vaccine Initiatives, Gulf CDC, and the Institute of Safety
in Technology & Research. Previously, he has served on numerous
international boards and committees focusing on epidemiology of
infectious disease, health security and global public health including
Chair Board International Federation of Biosafety Associations. He was
Fellowship by the Royal College Edinburgh in 2012 and the Royal College
of Pathologists London in 2014. He is a Fellow and Councilor of the
Pakistan Academy of Sciences.
