Abdullah Mamun
Biography
Associate Professor Mamun is a life course epidemiologist. His research bridges the social, environmental, biological and clinical sciences that shape human life. He is internationally recognized for his ground-breaking work on the links between critical stages of life such as pregnancy, early childhood and adolescence and the development of chronic diseases in later life, such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Some of his works are influential while considering the early development of health and well-being. For instance, his research confirmed that parents, especially mothers, are the role model for offspring health and well-being development from early life to adolescence to young adulthood. His work progresses the knowledge on early prevention and timely health services for chronic disease and its risk factors to keep the world healthy and influence future directions of global health to achieve Sustainable Development Goals in the post-COVID-19 era.
