Catherine Cohet

Biography

Catherine Cohet, PhD, is a Senior Pharmacoepidemiologist and Real-world evidence (RWE) Specialist in the Data Analytics & Methods Task Force at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She has 20+ years of academic, industry, and regulatory experience, including clinical and RWE generation, with a focus on post-authorization vaccine surveillance. Her work includes guidance on RWE generation and use, and public health emergency preparedness as Steering Group member of the EU Vaccine Monitoring Platform, which delivers vaccine benefit/risk evidence. She is co-chair of the ENCePP (European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance) Steering Group, and represents EMA in ICH and other international collaborations, such as under the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (ICMRA). Before joining EMA in 2020, she held various industry positions, generating and evaluating RWE across all phases of medicines/vaccines development. She also worked as an epidemiologist at the Centre for Public Health Research and the Malaghan Institute for Medical Research in Wellington, New Zealand, and the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France. Catherine’s interests include innovation in (pharmaco)epidemiological research; methodological and governance aspects of RWE generation; and understanding mechanisms beyond the safety and efficacy/effectiveness of medicines, including vaccines.
