Biography

Claudio F. Lanata is a Senior Researcher at the Nutritional Research Institute in Lima, Peru, since 1983, after returning from his post-graduate training in USA at U Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. He has led research in child health and nutrition areas, mainly on diarrheal and respiratory diseases, micronutrients and vaccine development that has resulted in two books, 27 chapters, and more than 185 publications mostly in major international journals.

Active collaborator with WHO and PAHO, and participates in several expert committees on diarrheal diseases and vaccine development. He has served as a Trustee of the International Center for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B); Science Advisor to the International Vaccine Institute in South Korea; and Science Director of the US Naval Medical Research Unit No. 6 (NAMRU-6) in Peru. 2020 Health Prize, Carlos Slim Foundation, Mexico, DF, Mexico.  Currently Adjunct Professor, Department of Pediatric at Vanderbilt University, Honorary Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and member of the Peruvian Academy of Medicine.
