Giorgio Cometto
Biography
Dr Giorgio Cometto joined WHO HQ in 2010 and is currently the head of the unit responsible for the policies, norms and standards. Giorgio Cometto is a medical doctor with a Master’s degree in health policy, planning and financing.
He has worked on health system development at national and international levels over the past 20 years, in humanitarian, post-conflict and development settings.
Among the focus areas of his work, he facilitated the development of the WHO Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health, the WHO guideline on health policy and system support to optimize community health worker programmes and WHO's guidance on health workforce policy and management during COVID-19.
