Dr Ahmed Abd El Wahed

Dr. Abd El Wahed is the head of the Animal Hygiene Laboratory at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Leipzig University. He studied Veterinary Medicine in Mansoura University, Egypt in 2002 and received his PhD in biology from Goettingen University, Germany in 2011. He is the head of the research committee German Society for Tropical Medicine, Travel Medicine and Global Health (DTG). He established a mobile suitcase laboratory for rapid detection of emerging and neglected pathogens. He is leading capacity building for detection of neglected diseases in Indian subcontinent and Sub-Saharan Africa.
