Biography

Beno Nyam Yakubu is a Deputy Director at  the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the Head; Clinical Trials and Drugs Division. He represents NAFDAC at the African Vaccine Regulatory Forum (AVAREF) and serves as the Chair of the Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC)  of the forum. Dr Nyam has graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and subsequently underwent training in Vaccinology and Statistical Methods in Epidemiology. He is a Fellow of Clinical Trials at  Regional Centre of Regulatory Excellence, Ghana and , has a Diploma in Bioethics and is undergoing an M.Sc. training in Bioethics

Dr Nyam has long-standing expertise in the review of Clinical Trial Applications (CTAs) and provides technical assistance in the assessment of clinical trial protocols. He contributes to inspections and critical assessments of clinical trial sites in AFRO and analyses and reviews of clinical trial data. He is often called upon as a subject matter expert by WHO and other stakeholders such as European Medicines Agency (EMA), US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), Health Canada, and Society for Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) to participate in conferences, technical meetings and expert consultations regarding Good Clinical Practice (GCP), GCP inspections and health research ethics.
