Biography

Karen is part of the WHO/MCA newborn health research team. Karen began her medical career as a paediatrician and public health physician working in the deprived Indigenous communities of northern Australia. Karen gained her PhD in neonatal epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in 2006 and has since held positions as medical epidemiologist at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in London and Ghana, the University of Western Australia, Chief of Health for United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF, Afghanistan), and most recently Professor of Child Health at King’s College London.
