Dr Nnenna Ezeigwe

Biography

Director/National Coordinator, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, Nigeria.

Dr. Ezeigwe is a Consultant Public Health Physician with clinical, program management and policy development experience cumulatively spanning 30 years in the private and public sectors. She is passionate about addressing environmental and other social determinants of health, which she has championed in the health and environment sectors of the Nigerian Civil Service. Holding a medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine, dual MPH from University of Lagos, and Rutgers University School of Public Health, New Jersey, USA, as well as postgraduate certificate in Environmental & Occupational Health from the later, Dr. Ezeigwe is a Fellow of the Medical College of Public Health, Nigeria and currently the Director /National Coordinator, Non-Communicable Diseases, Federal Ministry of Health. With her leadership dexterity in this role and excellent team building skills, she galvanized relevant stakeholders to develop the national non-communicable diseases multi-sectoral action plan (NMSAP) with robust coordination mechanism. This earned the department an award by the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force (UNIATF) in 2020. She is instrumental to the Resolve to Save Life-supported national hypertension control initiative in Nigeria, the recent admission of Nigeria into the NCDI Poverty Network and other NCD projects.

Dr. Ezeigwe strives for innovative solutions to public health issues, which inspired her membership as a trustee of Environment for Health Development Initiative (E4HDI), a Non-Governmental Organization promoting healthy lifestyle and access to quality health services. She has coauthored several articles in peer-reviewed journals and loves to spend quality time with her family whenever possible.
