Biography

Dr. Naseem Salahuddin is an Infectious Diseases specialist at the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) in Karachi, Pakistan.

She established the Rabies Prevention and Training Center for PEP at IHHN in Karachi, where treatment is given free of cost, and health care workers from other cities and provinces are trained according to current WHO PEP guidelines. Dr Salahuddin advocated against the nerve tissue vaccine until it was withdrawn in Pakistan in 2015. In 2018, she initiated the One Health program for Rabies Free Pakistan whereby her team vaccinates and neuters/spays stray animals. Dr. Salahuddin is member, WHO Expert Advisory Panel Committee for Rabies since 2004, and was an invited member SAGE 2017-18 for revision of the WHO position on rabies vaccines and immunoglobulins, and of WHO Neglected Tropical Diseases.
