Biography

Dr. Esther Hamblion is an epidemiologist and the acting Unit Head of the Public Health Intelligence Unit at WHO HQ in Geneva, Switzerland, where she works within the Health Emergencies Programme. Previously, she worked at WHO’s Regional Office for Africa and led the epidemiology team in Liberia during the Ebola response and subsequent recovery and health system strengthening phases. Dr. Hamblion holds a doctorate in epidemiology from University College London and an MSc in epidemiology from Imperial College London. Her career includes roles at Public Health England and extensive experience in health emergency response and surveillance.
