Dr Fajri Gafar

Biography

Dr. Fajri Gafar is a clinical pharmacist from Indonesia and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre and the McGill International TB Centre in Montreal, Canada. His postdoctoral research project focuses on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analyses of high-dose rifampicin to optimise the management of TB infection and TB disease in adults and children. In 2022, Dr. Gafar completed his PhD at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, focusing on optimising the treatment of TB disease in children and adolescents using epidemiological and pharmacological approaches. Dr. Gafar is a member of the WHO Child and Adolescent TB Working Group, and project leader for international collaborative groups for individual participant data meta-analyses on the pharmacokinetics of first-line anti-TB drugs in children and adolescents, and on the safety, tolerability, efficacy, and pharmacokinetics of high-dose rifampicin for the treatment of TB disease in adults and children.
