Professor Giuliano Duarte Anselmi

Biography

Giuliano Duarte is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Santiago in Chile, where he teaches Social Epidemiology in the Master of Public Health program. His research primarily focuses on public health, with a particular emphasis on behaviour change interventions related to the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, the promotion of physical activity, and healthy eating. With extensive experience in primary healthcare, Prof. Duarte’s work explores the barriers and facilitators in implementing improved interventions and de-implementing low-value practices, emphasizing evidence-based strategies. In addition to his academic and research commitments, Giuliano is actively engaged in public health initiatives both in Chile and abroad. His current research integrates behaviour change frameworks into public health policies to tackle health inequities and enhance population health outcomes. Prof. Duarte holds a master’s degree in public health from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology of Communication and Change at the University of Barcelona, Spain.
