Biography

Julianna Deardorff, Ph.D., is Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley. She heads the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) MPH program in the Division of Community Health Sciences.

She is the Director of the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice at UC Berkeley, one of 13 Centers funded nationally by HRSA/MCHB. Dr. Deardorff is an adolescent psychologist whose research focuses on early childhood adversity, puberty, sexuality, and mental health during adolescence, particularly among young Latinos and girls in the U.S. She has a strong history of funding from NIH focused on adversity, puberty, and health among youth and young adults from socioeconomically and ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Dr Deardorff teaches graduate-level courses in Adolescent Health and Evaluation of Health and Social Programs.
