Catherine Kane
Biography
Ms Catherine Kane joined WHO in 2017 and is currently a Technical Officer in the Health Workforce Policy, Norms and Standards team. In this role, she is responsible for the Global health and care workers compact, community health worker portfolio, knowledge management and partner engagement, including for the Public health and emergency workforce roadmap. Catherine was one of the department’s focal points for the COVID-19 response. Catherine earned her most recent degree, a Masters in Contemporary Diplomacy with merit, from the University of Malta.
She has worked in knowledge management, communication and policy for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, as principal liaison with the US Federal government emergency management community for the American Red Cross, as well as numerous roles in policy, partnership, planning and operations at national, subnational and community level.
Areas of work: Global health and care worker compact, Public health and emergency workforce roadmap, community health workers; external partnerships with professional associations, civil society organizations and collaborating centres; learning and information sharing strategies.
