Professor Lori Foster

Biography

Lori Foster is a Professor of Psychology at North Carolina State University, USA, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She is President of the International Association of Applied Psychology for the term 2022-2026. She has authored and edited numerous books and chapters, and her work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology. Her work has been featured in popular media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Folha de São Paulo, Fortune, and Science, and she has delivered papers and talks to audiences across six continents. As a scientist-practitioner, she has over 20 years of experience consulting for private and public sector organizations, including multiple United Nations entities and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. In her academic role, she leads the 4D Lab, focusing on research at the intersection of work, psychology, technology, and sustainable development. Prof. Foster completed a rotation with the Obama White House Social and Behavioural Sciences Team and served as one of the first Behavioural Sciences Advisors to the United Nations. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Prof. Foster has a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida, USA.
