Biography

Mariagrazia Pizza is a Visiting Professor at the Imperial College, London. Before joining the Imperial College she was Senior Scientific Director Bacterial Vaccines at GSK and Head of Research at GVGH, the GSK Vaccine Institute for Global Health.

She has more than 30 years of experience in Vaccine Research and Development, leading many bacterial vaccine projects. She contributed to the discovery and development of a new MenB vaccine, based on a reverse vaccinology approach, which is now licensed in more than 40 countries worldwide. She has received many awards and is elected member of EMBO, of the European Academy of Microbiology and Academia Europaea, Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and Vice Chair of the Bacteriology Division of IUMS (International Unit of Microbiology Societies). She has over 200 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and is co-inventor of many patents.
