Mohammad Abdelfattah Abdelmawla Abdelaziz
Biography
Dr Abdelfattah is Undersecretary for Preventive Affairs at the Ministry of Health and Population of Egypt. As such, he is supervising the National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Programme, the National Surveillance and Epidemiology Programme, the Quarantine Authority, the National Extended Programme for Immunization, the Communicable Diseases Control Administration, and the One Health National Unit. He is leading the National IHR Focal Point Office.
Dr Abdelfattah is a member of the Scientific Council of the IPC Fellowship of the Egyptian Board, and he is serving in the WHO/IPC Public Health Emergencies Working Group
Dr Abdelfattah is serving as WHO/EMRO Temporary Advisor in Joint External Evaluation (JEE) conducted in EMR member states covering areas of IPC, antimicrobial resistance, and surveillance.
Dr Abdelfattah served for 20 years in various posts at national and international levels, such as WHO/IPC Consultant during Ebola Virus Disease Outbreak in West Africa (2014-2016), and Country Preparedness and IHR Technical Officer& Acting Incident Manager for the Cholera outbreak WHO/Ethiopia (2017-2018).
Dr Abdelfattah served on the Review Committee regarding amendments to the International Health Regulations (2005).
