Dr Om Prasad Gautam

Biography

Om Prasad Gautam works as Hygiene Lead at WaterAid UK, managing its global behaviour change portfolio in Asia and Africa. He is a behaviour change scientist and public health expert with over 22 years of experience in water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), behaviour change, child health, immunization, diseases control, HIV/AIDS, public health emergencies and food hygiene. He also guest lectures at universities in the United Kingdom and in Europe. Previously, he worked in international organizations including the World Health Organization. Dr Gautam has extensive experiences in managing large-scale, multi-country, multi-donor WASH, health, behaviour change programmes and research in diverse environments in Asia and Africa. He has substantial track records in developing strategies, guidelines/frameworks, sustainable interventions, integrated programming, facilitating capacity-building training, formative research, creative design, and evaluation in over 26 countries. He co-led the SuSanA behaviour change group and represented WaterAid in global networks/platforms. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications and has received prestigious awards and scholarship and featured as goal maker. Dr Gautam holds a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK, and two master’s Degrees, one in public health from BRAC University, Bangladesh, and another in Social Sciences from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
