Professor Wendemagegn Enbiale Yeshaneh

Biography

Wendemagegn Enbiale is a physician by training and professor of Dermatovenerology in Bahir Dar University. He has a Master's in Public Health and a Ph.D. in Global Health and dermatology. He has been involved in outbreak management, community-based research, operational research, and clinical trials most on NTDs.  

He is an alumnus of the TDR lead Structured Operational Research and Training IniTiative (SORT IT) and facilitated operational research training on Antimicrobial Resistance and NTDs for South East Asia and Africa since 2019.  He is an advisory council for the International Alliance for the Control of Scabies (IACS), Climate Change Committee for the International Society of Dermatology, International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology (GLODERM), Amref Ethiopia and the national NTD Research Advisory Committee for Ethiopian Ministry of Health (MOH).  Since November 2020 he is involved in WHO Target Product Profiles (TPPs) development. In Ethiopia he has led the largest scabies outbreak control program which has screened more than 9 million people and treated 1.87 million patients and contacts. He has worked on community based podoconiosis prevention and treatment since 2010 and he is also the site principal investigator (PI) for clinical trial on STH (ALIVE) and on covid-19 (ANTICOV).
