Biography

Dr. Raquel Medialdea is a field epidemiologist and public health expert with over a decade of experience in managing public health emergencies, surveillance, research, training, and infectious diseases at various levels. Since January 2022, Dr. Medialdea has been serving as a Training Officer at the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, leading a team of experts in capacity building activities. With over a decade of experience in managing public health emergencies, she holds a PhD in Infections and Global Health from the University of Liverpool and completed her EPIET Fellowship at the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Medialdea has contributed to responses for Ebola in Sierra Leone, Zika in Brazil, and COVID-19 globally, and has worked with the WHO in various capacities since 2019. She is passionate about workforce development and public health intelligence, striving to make the world a better place for all.
