Saoirse Gabhainn
Biography
Saoirse Nic Gabhainn, BA (NUI), MA (NUI), PhD (Notts) is Professor of Health Promotion in the Discipline of Health Promotion, School of Health Sciences, College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Galway.
She is co-Director of the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Health Promotion Research and has been Principal Investigator for Ireland in the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) international research network since 1994. She is responsible for research programmes on child and adolescent health and wellbeing and the school as a setting for Health Promotion, and has published widely on these topics using a range of methodological approaches.
In addition to expertise in measurement, she is committed to child participation in the research process and integrated knowledge translation into national and international policy.
