Tsungai Chipato

Dr Chipato is currently a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Zimbabwe, College of Health Sciences. Dr Chipato has more than 25 years of experience researching women’s reproductive health and prevention of HIV in sub Saharan Africa. His research has focused on prevention of mother to child HIV infection (PMTCT), the interaction of HIV and contraception and HIV prevention strategies, cervical cancer screening and treatment, contraception with emphasis on long acting contraception. Dr Chipato was instrumental in the successful introduction of the long acting methods LNG-IUS, Implanon and Jadelle in Zimbabwe.
