Dr Wagdy Amin

Dr Wagdy Amin is Director General for the Department of chest diseases and Executive Manager of the National TB Programme of Egypt at the Ministry of Health and Population. He is also Chairman of the Society of Anti-Smoking, Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases in Cairo and member of the Egyptian Scientific Committee against COVID-19. Part of his role at the National TB Programme includes coordination of TB/HIV activities and training.  

Dr Amin has long clinical experience as a pulmonologist and contributed to the development of national guidelines for TB, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as well as preparedness plans for influenza control. In the past, Dr Amin served as the clinical and laboratory coordinator from 2003 to 2006 and focal point for pandemic influenza in the country from 2006 to 2011. Since 2005, he has contributed to the development of national strategic plans for TB in Egypt.
