William Hausdorff
Biography
Originally trained as a biochemist at Johns Hopkins University and the National Institutes of Health, Bill Hausdorff has worked on the development, clinical evaluation, registration, implementation and post-marketing assessment of a variety of vaccines to prevent major public health problems for 30 years. His vaccine career started with the US Agency for International Development and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, based in Washington DC and Cairo, Egypt where he worked to expedite introduction of new vaccines into developing country immunization programs.
This was followed by two decades at Wyeth Vaccines and GSK Vaccines, based in Rochester NY and Brussels, Belgium, respectively where Bill held a variety of roles in the Scientific Affairs & Research Strategy and Epidemiology Groups, and as a Vaccine Development Leader. He is recognized for his significant contributions to the development of highly effective pneumococcal conjugate vaccines at each of the companies. He is the author of over 100 scientific articles and book chapters.
For the past 5 years Bill has been based at NGO PATH in Washington DC, and also is a senior lecturer on the Faculty of Medicine, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium.
