Routine Health Information Systems - Global Consultation

The first global consultation on Routine Health Information Systems (RHIS) was one of the global health data consultation series in 2021, hosted by WHO Division of Data, Analytics and Delivery for Impacts. It aimed to further strengthen RHIS in countries to help tracking progress towards the universal health coverage (UHC),the GPW 13 “triple billion” targets and health-related SDG.

All countries need a robust health information system as the foundation of their health statistics - with an emphasis on local data for local use, to improve health outcomes for their populations. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of data and health information systems for guiding all stages of the response to the crisis. The consultation brought together a diverse group of technical experts on health data and public health practitioners to present aspects of RHIS, its application and discussed ways to support countries optimize integrated RHIS.
