Method of measurement
Data submitted by the national malaria control programmes (NMCPs) compiled by WHO. Data were reported from the laboratory or through case classification forms. Method of calculation:
Indigenous cases and species were reported based on the following: total confirmed cases caused by P.falciparum, where no case investigations and case classifications had been carried out; total confirmed cases caused by P.falciparum minus imported cases caused by P.falciparum, where data were available; and reported indigenous caused by P.falciparum cases for countries that were part of the eliminating countries for 2025 (E-2025) initiative and where the number of cases classified equaled the total number of confirmed cases.
