The Director-General informs each Member of the Region, not less than 11 months before the date fixed for the opening of a session of the Regional Committee at which a person is due to be nominated as Regional Director, that he will receive proposals of names of candidates for nomination by the Regional Committee as Regional Director.

Any Member of the Region may propose the name or names of one or more persons, each of whom has indicated willingness to act as Regional Director, submitting with each proposal particulars of the person’s qualifications and experience.

A person holding office as Regional Director for the Region shall, if eligible and has so requested, be a candidate for nomination without being proposed by a Member of the Region.
