Renewing commitments: towards advancing sexual and reproductive health for universal health coverage in the WHO European Region

2 October 2023, 10:00–11:30 CEST

Although significant advances have been made in improving sexual and reproductive health in the Region, there remain stark differences in outcomes among Members States, and more must be done to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal targets. Indeed, decades of gains across the Region may be at risk, with slowing or stagnant progress in reducing maternal mortality rates, limited access to services, and an unacceptably high prevalence of sexual and intimate partner violence. The rolling back of policies for gender equality and sexual and reproductive health threatens progress.

This side event will provide the latest regional status on sexual and reproductive health, present promising examples of country practices, and generate discussion among experts and practitioners from across the Region on the steps that need to be taken to support countries in making progress in this area.
