HEPA Europe working group: Policy Approaches to Physical Activity Promotion (PAPAP)

The Policy Approaches to Physical Activity Promotion (PAPAP) working group within the HEPA Europe network brings together specialists in the field of physical activity policy research and development from universities, public institutes, NGOs and other relevant interested organizations from relevant fields, i.e. (public) health, sport, education, political sciences, transportation, or spatial planning, from Europe and beyond.

This working group (WG) aims to facilitate the distribution of information on national – and more recently also sub-national – approaches to physical activity promotion, including inter-ministerial and intersectoral approaches and the challenges to overcome in their development and implementation and monitoring.

The main current scopes of the PAPAP WG are to:

  • facilitate the exchange of information and expertise between the group members,
  • develop, support, or enhance collaborations between group members,
  • help disseminate ongoing projects of the group members,
  • use group experience and expertise to support national and sub-national initiatives of group members,
  • produce relevant scientific and non-scientific outputs, in the field of physical activity promotion at sub-national, national, European and international level.

Currently, the PAPAP WG holds regular monthly meetings via Teams platform, with technical support from WHO Europe. Anyone interested in joining the working group, for one of the purposes listed above or other requests for support or proposals for collaboration can contact the current WG co-leaders, Dr. Petru SANDU, at petrusandumd@gmail.com and Prof. Dr. Peter GELIUS at peter.gelius@unil.ch
