The WHO/Europe Access to Novel Medicines Platform (NMP) is convening its fourth Working Group (WG) meeting on novel antimicrobials in Stockholm on 22–23 April 2024.
WG4 aims to identify policy options that facilitate sustainable innovation and access to novel antimicrobials. Chaired by Malin Grape, Ambassador on Antimicrobial Resistance at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, Division for EU and International Affairs, Sweden, and Jenny Hellman, Head of Unit for Pharmaceutical preparedness and logistics at the Public Health Agency of Sweden, the group will explore how collaboration among stakeholders can strengthen sustainable research and development and ensure new antimicrobials are accessible while addressing antimicrobial resistance.
The NMP comprises 4 working groups along the themes of transparency, solidarity, sustainability, and novel antimicrobials. It aims to identify concrete actions to improve access to effective, novel, high-cost medicines in the WHO European Region. WHO/Europe acts as the neutral convenor of the platform, ensuring a multistakeholder perspective and a voice for all to enrich proposals.
Participation in the working groups is through nominations sent by the registered NMP stakeholders, which includes Member States, non-State actors and other partner organizations.
