17–18 October 2024, Copenhagen, Denmark
Measles and rubella elimination is a priority goal for the WHO European Region, as reflected in WHO Regional Committee for Europe resolution EUR/RC64/R5 and in the European Immunization Agenda 2030. High-quality, comprehensive epidemiological surveillance of disease cases, carried out with the support of laboratory services, is essential for successful disease monitoring and for the evaluation of efforts to ensure progress towards elimination. WHO/Europe coordinates the WHO European Measles and Rubella Laboratory Network with the support of its 4 top-tier members, the Regional Reference Laboratories in Berlin, Luxembourg, and Moscow and the Global Specialized Laboratory in London.
This annual meeting brings together senior experts from these laboratories together with representatives from the European Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella Elimination (RVC), partner organizations and WHO. It aims at providing a platform to present global and regional laboratory updates, exchange technical information, and present the latest research and development results in the area of measles and rubella laboratory-supported surveillance, including progress in laboratory data reporting and visualization of sequence data within the WHO Immunization Information System (WIISE).
