From 8–11 April, the WHO Health Emergencies Programme is supporting the Government of Azerbaijan in conducting an Early Warning, Alert and Response (EWAR) systems assessment. Falling under the Collaborative Surveillance initiative – one of the 5 components of the WHO global Health Emergencies Preparedness, Response and Resilience framework – the mission brings together national stakeholders and international partners to review existing capacities and identify opportunities to strengthen all-hazard early warning surveillance, verification and rapid risk assessment functions. The assessment aims to enhance timely detection and response to public health threats through integrated, multisectoral approaches aligned with the International Health Regulations.
