WHO Primary Health Care Demonstration Platform
WHO Europe launched a new innovative product, WHO Primary Health Care Demonstration Platform.
When it comes to transformation, countries often know what to do — they have a strategy. The challenges arise when they attempt to turn the vision into the reality, overcome the implementation gap. WHO PHC Demonstration Platform addresses this issue. Countries visiting the WHO PHC Demonstration Platform not only learn the ‘what,’ they learn the ‘how.’ WHO PHC Demonstration Platform gives a practical understanding of how to overcome implementation barriers and strengthen primary health care.
The WHO PHC Demonstration Platforms are set up across the WHO European Region, in countries that exhibit reorganized and well-performing primary health care models. They can exemplify features, such as multi-profile, networked, integrated, and team-based. They demonstrate how they were able to reorganize not only the model of care but also the system enablers to support that model, such as governance, human resources for health care, and others. Visiting delegations get an opportunity to speak with people and agencies, implementation forces of primary health care transformation, and harness their experience. WHO tailors the programme to the current needs and context of the visiting country, and provides technical support on further implementation.
The WHO Primary Health Care Demonstration Platform experience is structured as four- to five-day visits connecting national and regional policy-makers and practitioners from the host and visiting countries.
