How the ACT Accelerator is making a difference: Impact and Results
Since its creation in April 2020, the ACT Accelerator has supported the fastest, most coordinated, and successful global effort in history to develop tools to fight a disease and protect global health security.
Pooling the expertise of its partners, it has expedited COVID-19 rapid affordable tests and effective treatments, and established the COVAX facility for the equitable procurement and distribution of vaccines globally. It also supports health systems in LMICs to roll out the vital COVID-19 tools and turn vaccines into vaccination, tests into testing.
Even though a dangerous equity gap in access to COVID-19 tools between richer and poorer nations persists, progress has been made and the ACT Accelerator has achieved and delivered impact in record time where it is needed most.

Financing the ACT Accelerator is not a cost and nor is it charity, it is an investment with strong returns.
The International Monetary Fund estimates that a US$50 billion roadmap investment would bring the pandemic to an end faster and generate US$ 9 trillion in economic return by 2025.
