Health in all Government Policies

Acknowledging the importance of addressing social determinants of health (SDH) through a “Health-In-All-Policies ” approach to further improve population health outcomes including universal health coverage as part of 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, Kiribati Government adopted the historical “AMBO Declaration on Health-In-All-Government-Policies” on 9th April, 2017.
The declaration (Annex 1) was formulated and signed at the Political Retreat of all government ministers and secretaries with theme: “Kiribati 20 Year Vision for a Healthy, Wealthy and Peaceful Nation” or “KV20” held in AMBO, South Tarawa from 7th to 9th April, 2017
The Declaration reiterates Kiribati’s commitment to addressing the social determinants of health and to further improve population health outcomes and health equity within the Government “KV20” agenda. The declaration also aligns Kiribati with the vision of Healthy Islands, the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals including Universal Health Coverage, while calling on development partners and the international community for support and collaboration.
His Excellency President Taneti Maamau, conveyed Government’s appreciations for WHO’s support and effective collaboration in the historical event and declaration.
