Policy dialogue on collaboration with China CDC towards strengthening national capacity to respond to STI epidemics

16-17 OCTOBER 2019, ULAANBAATAR - The Ministry of Health Mongolia held a policy dialogue with the National Center for Sexually Transmitted Infections of China on joint collaboration to strengthen the national capacity and response to sexually transmitted infection (STI) epidemics through proposed initiatives by the Government of China.

The proposed initiative aims at supporting the establishment of surveillance of Gonococcal antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and improving syphilis surveillance in selected urban and rural sites in Mongolia through the introduction of best practices from the National program on prevention and control of syphilis of China.

A situation analysis of the current status of knowledge of STI doctors on syphilis prevention and control, capacity building of the National Reference Laboratory of National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) of Mongolia on laboratory surveillance of AMR of N. gonorrhoea are the key areas of the proposal.

WHO supports the proposal idea and will provide guidance and technical support in the implementation of the proposed initiatives based on the conclusion of a mutual policy dialogue between the governments of the two countries.
