“Water, Sanitation, And Hygiene" Multi-sectoral consultation meeting conducted

With WHO support, today the National Center of Public Health organized a "Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene" multi-sectoral consultation meeting to exchange opinions on policies, plans, and implementation to improve the water supply, sanitation, and hygiene conditions of the population, and to expand further multi-sectoral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by more than 30 representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Water Agency, the General Agency for Specialized Inspection, the National Emergency Management Agency, UB City Environmental Agency, the National Center of Public Health, the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund, Water Services Regulatory Commission of Mongolian and WASH Action NGO.

The Ministry of Health, Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, and Water Agency introduced the policies, plans, and measures being implemented in water supply, sanitation, and hygiene sectors and Nationwide Drinking Water Quality study results, conclusions, and recommendations were also presented. Furthermore, the General Agency for Specialized Inspection presented the findings of the drinking water and soil monitoring, and UNICEF presented its’ WASH supported activities and next 5 years’ strategy on WASH.

During the meeting, WHO WASH strategy and guidelines on "Improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Health Care Facilities - 2022" and "Climate-Resilient and Environmentally Sustainable Health Care Facilities - 2020" were presented.
