31 January 2022
Expression of interest

The World Health Organization (WHO) is in the process of updating its interim guidance on Health workforce policy and management in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic response.

The purpose of the guidance is to assist national governments, as well as national and international partners, to address design, strategy, planning, implementation and measurement of health workforce needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidance intends to provide recommendations and policy options to put in place human resources for health policies, regulations and systems that will increase capacity to respond to the current and future pandemics, and to sustainably strengthen the health workforce to address broader health objectives.

This notice is a call for expression of interests for relevant experts to serve as members of the guideline development group (GDG). The GDG is intended to provide diverse and real-world perspectives and will be primarily responsible for contributing to the conceptualization and peer review of the updates to the interim guidance published in 2020. The GDG will be supported and facilitated by the WHO Health Workforce department, along with the relevant departments at WHO headquarters and in the regional offices represented in the steering group. The GDG membership is open to qualified individuals from a range of constituencies, including health workforce and health systems experts, occupational health and safety, mental health and emergencies experts, gender and equity experts, human resources for health planners, health managers and advocates.
