Call for proposals

Seeking artists, communicators, scientists and other young professionals from around the globe! WHO’s Information Network for Epidemics (EPI-WIN) invites young people to collaborate with us to design creative, engaging and relevant communication content to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

We are looking for a range of creative solutions (poster, infographic, video, song, poetry, photograph, etc.) to reach audiences of different affiliations, geographies and languages.

The 1st design lab topic is ‘Reducing Transmission,’ held over 1 week from the 30 October – 6 November.

Submitted work will be reviewed by our EPI-WIN team and be considered for distribution and promotion by WHO, with recognition to the design team or individual

If you are interested to collaborate with us, complete an expression of interest form before the 28 October to participate as an individual, to join a team, or sign up as a team of up to 5.

See below for more details.

Background

The COVID-19 pandemic has created uncertainty and change around the world. Everything has been impacted, how we live, work, communicate and travel. With no clear end in sight, the perception of COVID-19 risk and adherence to public health and social measures is changing. Understandably so, many are tired and frustrated at the ongoing impact the pandemic has had on their life and are less motivated to follow guidance, particularly if inconvenient or if others around them are not.

As the world defines the ‘new normal’ and how we adapt to live safely and sustainably alongside the virus, we must consider economic and social factors that are inherent to society. This includes being part of a community and socializing with friends, families and co-workers in a variety of settings. Several key actions can minimize the risk of transmission of COVID-19 including, washing hands frequently, keeping a distance of at least 1m, wearing a mask and avoiding crowded or close-contact places.

The WHO EPI-WIN team would like to collaborate with young people to co-develop creative content that highlights key messages around reducing transmission. We are looking for a range of creative solutions (poster, infographic, video, song, poetry, photograph, etc.) to reach audiences of different affiliations, geographies and languages.

We anticipate this to be the first WHO COVID-19 Design Lab in a series. Sign up to our WHO Youth Engagement mailing list to be notified of future collaboration opportunities and challenges.
