Background

Dr LEE Jong-wook, former Director-General of WHO, died suddenly on 22 May 2006, two years before the end of his five-year term.

Decisions

The appointment of Dr Anders Nordström to serve as Acting Director-General until the appointment of, and assumption of office by, the new Director-General of the World Health Organization.
