Third intersessional meeting of the Review Committee on the Role of the International Health Regulations (2005) in the Ebola Outbreak and Response

The Review Committee on the Role of the International Health Regulations (2005) in the Ebola Outbreak and Response held its third intersessional meeting 9-11 December 2015 in Geneva.

During the November meeting, the Committee discussed the findings of the three technical subcommittees, began development of preliminary recommendations and discussed the organization and writing of its final report.

The Committee continued interviewing with key informants and seeking input from States Parties, the United Nations and its specialized agencies and other relevant intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations on their views on how compliance with the IHR can be improved and the support needed to effectively implement the IHR in countries and at all levels of the WHO.

During the December meeting, the Committee further elaborated on the recommendations and discussed the organization and writing of its final report.

Member States, Intergovernmental Organizations, nongovernmental Organizations as well as the general public were able to follow an Open Session of the Review Committee live on Friday 11 December 2015 at 12:45 Geneva time. At this time, the Review Committee presented the outcomes of the meeting and the way forward.
