Meeting of the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness (PIP) Framework Review Group

Background

As recommended by the Advisory Group in the Special Session of 13-14 October 2015, a review group on the implementation of the PIP Framework has been established. The first two meetings were held via teleconference on 7 January and 19 February 2016, where the group agreed on the terms of reference, method of work and next steps forward. Purpose

The purpose of the meeting is for the Review Group receive views from stakeholders on the implementation of the PIP Framework, and more specifically on the following key questions:

  • What are the achievements since the PIP Framework was adopted?
  • Has implementation of the PIP Framework improved global pandemic influenza preparedness, including inter-pandemic surveillance, and capacity to respond?
  • What are the challenges, and possible ways of addressing them?

  • Meeting with Member States only (9.30-12.30)
  • Meeting with Member States and Stakeholders (14.00-17.00)

Logistics

The meeting will be Webcast and full interpretation will be provided. Following this meeting, the Review Group will continue its deliberations in closed sessions.
