Fourth Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety 2019 in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

2 – 3 March 2019
The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

The Fourth Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety will be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 2–3 March 2019. Its focus is on low- and middle-income countries, which have 2/3 of the global patient harm burden.

Patient safety in health care has become a serious global concern in recent years. Although health systems differ from country to country, many threats to patient safety have similar causes and often can be addressed by similar solutions. The Summit brings together international patient safety experts, political decision-makers and other stakeholders involved in the global movement for patient safety.

The Summit will see the launch of the Jeddah Declaration on Patient Safety, which will highlight important recommendations, especially for low- and middle-income countries.

An array of topics related to patient safety will be discussed, including patient empowerment, the role of health workers, policy making, research and the impact of digital health on patient safety. The scientific programme will consist of 8 main tracks designed to create discussion and be the platform for patient safety concerns and solutions that are meaningful and impactful across the globe.

The Summit is a continuation of the Global Ministerial Summit series which was initiated in 2016 by the United Kingdom's Department of Health and the German Federal Ministry of Health.

The event is organized by the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC), with advisory input from the 4th Global Ministerial Patient Safety Summit Steering Committee, including WHO.
