The Global Survey on HTA and Health Benefit Packages: Interactive Database and Findings

16 December 2021 14:00 – 15:00 CET

Developing systematic decision-making processes for health that are fair and transparent is an important step towards achieving universal health coverage (UHC). However, having such decision-making processes alone is not enough. These processes should have clear objectives and be linked with coverage decisions, such as those related to health benefit packages. For this reason, it is increasingly recognized that as progress is made on country health decision-making processes and health benefit packages, that links between the two areas are maintained.

In 2020 and 2021, the WHO implemented the second round of its global survey on health technology assessment (HTA). The survey’s aim was to assess the status of HTA and related decision-making processes around the world as well as to provide an update to the global survey conducted in 2015. This round of the survey also included a brand-new section to assess country health benefit packages for UHC, with detailed information about health benefit package characteristics and contents.

In this online event, we will present results from the survey along with a new database of the survey responses. The database features separate sections for the HTA and health benefit package areas, with interactive visualizations and country dashboards. The event will also have a session around resources for health benefit package development and country experiences on developing HTA and health benefit packages.
