World Food Safety Day high-level event: Food standards save lives

World Food Safety Day 2023 celebrations will be marked by a hybrid high-level event on 7 June, 12:15 13:30 CEST to discuss this year’s World Food Safety Day theme, Food standards save lives. The event, hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Health Organization (WHO) and the Codex Secretariat, will be available online for the virtual audience.

The event will start with the welcome remarks from FAO Director-General Dr QU Dongyu and WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, followed by two panels. The first panel will focus on how Codex standards are making a difference at country level. It will be followed by a segment on how food standards promote health. The second panel will discuss the role of science in standard setting and food systems transformation.

Interpretation will be available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
