Dangerous liaisons: How Conflicts of Interest Undermine Health and Policy

18 November 2024 18:30 – 20:00 GMT

About

Conflicts of interest are a major issue for health policy. For instance, WHO estimates that some 25% of all deaths in the European region can be linked to four major industries: tobacco, alcohol, processed food, and fossil fuels. These industries not only affect health through their products but also perpetuate profit-driven business models and marketing practices that severely compromise public health.

Organized together with the British Medical Journal and the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Physicians (RCP), this topical event will delve into the complexities of conflicts of interest in public health, while encouraging public debate and raising awareness of their potential consequences on policy and health outcomes.
