Side Event - Information session - Update on WHO Deliberate Event preparedness and response

10 December 2024 09:00 – 09:45 UTC Time

Deliberate events pose significant threats to public health, requiring comprehensive strategies to mitigate their impact.

In light of the evolving global threat landscape, World Health Organization (WHO) has been actively updating its strategies and actions to address the health impacts of deliberate events (DEs), such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear attacks, cyber-attacks, and disinformation campaigns. The focus is on prevention, preparedness, and response to enhance global health security.

The Biosecurity and Protection Unit (BSP) of WHO Emergencies Programme organizes this information session for the UN Biological Weapons Convention to provide updates on WHO's activities aimed at strengthening its capacity to detect, assess the risks of, respond to, and coordinate major biological deliberate events.
