The Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly (WHA78) was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 19 - 27 May 2025. This year’s Health Assembly theme was: One World for Health. Proceedings were webcast live, with simultaneous interpretation available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
WHA78 set new ambitions for the Member States and the WHO in the area of climate and health by the adoption of the Draft Global Action Plan on Climate Change and Health, following the dedicated Resolution on climate change and health adopted at WHA77, as well as the WHO’s Fourteenth General Programme of work for the period 2025-2028 (GPW14) with the response to climate change being selected as one of its six key strategic objectives.
Several Member States and partner organizations hosted side events on climate change and health on the margins of WHA78. More information and the list of climate-health side events can be accessed on the ClimaHealth Portal, as well as on the UN Foundation official webpage providing a full calendar of the WHA side events, and in the list of WHA78 Official Side Events.
The recording of the first WHA78 official side event, "Advancing Health and Climate Discussions towards COP 30: A Dialogue with the Baku Continuity Coalition", which took place on Monday, May 19, at 12:30-13:50 at the UN Palais is available here:
